Disney's New Game Is a Must Play for Animal Crossing Fans

Disney seems to be out of ideas: Kingdom Hearts hasn't been interesting in forever, and their new game is essentially Animal Crossing. But that's not a bad thing...

Disney Dreamlight Valley is the name, and Animal Crossing is the game. Seriously, this new game might as well be a re-skin of Animal Crossing, but we don't mind, and we don't blame. After all, Animal Crossing was the game in that first COVID year, and now Disney is thinking... "well the virus is still around, so... might as well."

Disney Dreamlight Valley = Animal Crossing?

If you've played Animal Crossing, or Stardew Valley (which is getting a sort-of-sequel, by the way), you know what to expect: Cooking, fishing, farming, customizing, and basically all the chores you're not doing in real life. Or, to put it in the corporate words of Disney - this is what we will get:

Set in the dream world of Dreamlight Valley, players will embark on an enchanting quest to restore a once-idyllic village now desolate and full of night thorns. Uncover the mysterious secrets that led you to this new world and explore diverse realms inspired by classic Disney and Pixar worlds, while helping the iconic inhabitants of the town recover their lost memories. During your quest to save Dreamlight Valley, you will meet and build friendships with beloved characters from Mickey & Friends to Disney’s Frozen, The Little Mermaid, and Moana to Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story, Wall-E and more.

Once again, another corporate text that just blows my mind, hypes my socks, and makes me tingle in places. Seriously... who the F writes these? Not to worry though, the game is not to be judged on poor marketing, and might still turn out fine.

If that chunk of quote up there got you going, or if you just miss Animal Crossing, then you'll have to wait until 2023. In fact, if you miss Animal Crossing, you'll have to wait forever, because this one is not coming to the Nintendo Switch. PlayStation players who never played Animal Crossing, though, can look forward to a major timesink, when Disney Dreamlight Valley releases for PS4 and PS5 in 2023.
