Ever wondered what a technologically advanced version of the Soviet Union would have looked like? Mundfish Studios has wondered, and they're showing everyone what it could have been with Atomic Heart in Q4 2022. But what can you expect from this game on the PC? Let's find out.
Ready to hear about the craziest game ever? We weren’t when initially reporting on the upcoming Atomic Heart. It’s unlike any game we’ve seen before, and that’s surprising, considering Mundfish announced Atomic Heart in 2018.
The announcement was short-lived, as other games overshadowed Atomic Heart at the 2018 E3 Conference. This resulted in little press for Atomic Heart, but an unexpected fanbase would ensure that this Soviet-Era FPS would gain the recognition it deserved.
Mundfish CEO Robert Bagratuni confirmed that Atomic Heart was set between the 1930s and 1960s. However, technological advancements have allowed the Russians to invent cybernetic androids & internet connectivity. But everything isn’t as it seems in Atomic Heart.
There are plagued creatures & humans that are reborn from the dead, while androids have become infected with destructive programs. This creates an assortment of problems for our main character, Major Nechaev, and he’ll have to figure out various means of overcoming these challenges. If he doesn’t, death is undoubtedly guaranteed.
Mundfish Studios has announced numerous details about Atomic Heart since 2018. For example, we know there is an unexpected love story involving Major Nechaev and an unnamed character. But this information was boring compared to the announcement that Atomic Heart shares similarities to BioShock.
Ultimately, there’s more going on with this game than anyone expected. When you see the gameplay footage provided below, you’ll be shocked by what Mundfish Studios has created. Let’s explore what you can expect from the PC version of Atomic Heart.
When Is Atomic Heart Coming To The PC?
Mundfish Studios has confirmed that Atomic Heart is launching for the PC on Steam later this year. It’s available for your Wishlist with a guaranteed release window of Q4 2022. We will have to pay CAD 89.99/USD 69.99/EUR 59.99/GPB 49.99 for day one acquisition of Atomic Heart.
Mundfish Studios will eventually decrease the price of Atomic Heart during a Steam sales event. If you’re someone that doesn’t like paying for the total cost of games, we would recommend waiting until the 2023 Steam Next Fest.
Which PC Features Will Atomic Heart Have?
Mundfish Studios has developed Atomic Heart for last-generation & next-generation consoles while also designing a PC port of their upcoming Soviet-Era RPG. We have learned about a few features that will arrive with Atomic Heart. Those features include:
- 4K-120 FPS
- RTX Lighting
- Steam Cloud Support
- Partial Controller Support
We’re confident that numerous other features will be supported once this game is launched in Q4 2022.
Is Atomic Heart Coming To The Steam Deck?
The system requirements involved in operating Atomic Heart shouldn’t be overwhelming for the Steam Deck. Therefore, we are confident that everyone who owns this handheld console will be capable of playing Atomic Heart without any challenges.
Mundfish Studios hasn’t confirmed if the Steam Deck will be supported. We will have to wait & see until the game is launched by testing it on our consoles. But this is always concerning for anyone using the Steam Deck, as unexpected damage can occur to the console.
Game Trailer
Atomic Heart’s trailer is insane and feels reminiscent of a rollercoaster ride at Disney World. We are introduced to an assortment of characters throughout the trailer, including our protagonist, Major Nechaev.
The most impressive aspect of this trailer is the overwhelming number of enemies we encounter. It’s suggestive of an expansive game that could feel never-ending, and isn’t that what all Action-RPG fans ever want?
