Finally, there are more controller options in Fortnite! Epic Games has finally added gyroscope aiming and flick stick. But what does that even mean, and how do you activate these features?
Epic Games has added the new controller options Gyroscope Control and Flick Stick to Fortnite with its 19.30 update! In fact, Fortnite already had gyroscope-based motion controls on the Nintendo Switch and Android devices, but now that feature is finally available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC! While tech pros probably already know what this means anyway, there are some gamers out there who are now wondering what the word's gyroscope control and flick stick mean.
But don't worry, that's what we're here for. We'll explain what these options can do and how to enable them in Fortnite.
What Is Gyroscope Aiming In Fortnite?
It's best to compare gyroscope controls to the controls of a cell phone car game or maybe even the Wii. When this option is turned on, you can control the camera in the game by moving the controller. This may allow you to aim more accurately than using the stick. Of course, you can also use both at the same time. Players usually continue to use the right stick for most camera movements, while also using the gyroscope aiming for more precise adjustments that aren't as easy with a stick. Whether you can handle it or not is still up to you, but it's definitely worth a try!

How Do I Enable Gyroscope Aiming In Fortnite?
To enable or disable gyroscope aiming in Fortnite, follow these steps:
- Click on Settings in Fortnite
- Go to the "Touch and Motion Controls" tab
- Turn gyroscope aiming to Off or On, depending on your preference
Of course, as with all other settings, there are other gyroscope options here that let you adjust features, such as sensitivity. Most important, are the Activity Mode (Combat) and Activity Mode (Build) settings. Let's take a quick look at each of these options.
Activity Mode (Combat)
- Scope Only: The gyroscope is only active when you are aiming with a scope.
- Scope or Aiming: The gyroscope is active when you aim with any weapon.
- Scope, Aim, Dismount: The gyroscope is active when you aim any weapon or use your pickaxe.
- Always: The gyroscope is always active, regardless of whether you are aiming with a weapon or using your pickaxe.
Activity Mode (Build)
- The gyroscope is not active when building or editing.
- Editing: The gyroscope is active while you are editing buildings, but not while building.
- Always: The gyroscope is active during both building and editing.
What is Flick Stick in Fortnite?
Flick Stick is in itself a part of the gyroscope controls. It can be activated to make the camera swing quickly in one direction when you move the right stick in that direction. Since this setting prevents you from aiming up or down with the right stick, it requires a gyroscope aiming to be activated.
The Flick Stick is generally recommended for experienced gyroscope players, but new gyroscope players can get used to the Flick Stick relatively quickly.
How To Activate Flick Stick In Fortnite?
To enable Flick Stick in Fortnite, follow these steps:
- In Fortnite, click on Settings
- Go to the "Touch and Motion Controls" tab
- Turn Gyroscope Aiming to On
- Turn Flick Stick to On
- To disable Flick Stick in Fortnite, simply click "Off" in the Gyroscope Aiming or Flick Stick option
