Fortnite and Balenciaga. The virtual and the real world meet and both get something out of it. The collaboration introduces the new skins and clothing.
Partnerships between big games, or rather organisations, and popular and noble clothing manufacturers are currently in fashion (hehe), it seems. First G2 Esports teamed up with Ralf Lauren. Shortly after, the 100 Thieves announced a collaboration with Gucci and now this. Fortnite and Balenciaga have been secretly working on a project: Fortnite x Balenciaga. There will be new skins for the game and new clothes. Both themed, of course. All information and a first look at clothing, skins and prices can be found here.

Let's first turn our attention to what most of you are probably here for - the new Balenciaga Fortnite skins. Bold, classic, sexy and a... Robot? So there's something for everyone. Here are the four new skins that have been revealed so far:
Personally, I'm not too enthusiastic about the skins. Epic Games have delivered much better ones. But hey! At least the skins aren't as overpriced as their real-world garments. Seriously... Look at the prices. For a bit of fabric!? That's not even special. It just says Fortnite on it and that's...it?

Balenciaga x Fortnite: The Cap
Discount! Or something... I just can't say much about it. The boomer-me is definitely triggered by the price and the "special" that is served.
Balenciaga x Fortnite: The Jacket
A jeans jacket or a slightly older small car? The decision is not really difficult. Seriously. Is that what people buy? Then please spend money on the skins instead!
Balenciaga x Fortnite: The Hoodie
The hoodie is the absolute crowning glory for me! A white hoodie with the names of the two companies on it. I'm supposed to pay €725 for that? Good clothing is something fine and you get years out of it. But what Fortnite and Balenciaga are serving us is, in my opinion, a bottomless impertinence. What kind of world do we live in that such a business model really works?
