Christmas is behind us, which means that the time of presents, Wham! and corny jumpers is slowly but surely coming to an end. Did FIFA 22 lay under your Christmas Tree or did you buy the game yourself because it's on sale now? Then we have the perfect guide for you so that your start into Ultimate Team is smooth.

It is a great time to start the grind in FUT 22 right now. Why? Well, until January 14, 2022, every FIFA player gets one of those decent Next Generation Cards for his squad. You can easily build your starter team around this player.

How to get a decent Team in FUT 22?

Want to hear the easiest answer? Money. Of course, you can skip following our tips & tricks and go straight into the next Lightning Round with 500€. But not everyone can/wants to spend that much cash... For you guys, there's this article. And let's be honest, building your team with hard work is much more satisfying, isn't it? It ain't much but it's honest work, ya know.

Complete SBCs in FIFA 22 regularly

Squad Building Challenges are usually good for turning some useless players from your club into possibly stronger cards. Of course, there are also some stinkers - mostly before new events EA wants to take a few cards out of your pocket with lousy deals.

You can follow how a new SBC is received by the community on Reddit, for example. One challenge that is always worthwhile in terms of your coins is the weekly Marquee Matchups SBC. Especially at the start of your FUT career, you should meticulously complete the teams to get some nice packs.

No money - Build the Ultimate Team in FIFA

How can I get the best cards in Ultimate Team without spending real money? Squad Battles are a decent place to start, especially for newcomers. Here you can relax and improve your gameplay against the AI or train new skills without having to play against absolute sweaters.

At a certain level, you HAVE to play against real opponents though, in order to become even better. However, the mode is - as already mentioned - quite practical for beginners and also worthwhile. You also get nice packs every week if you have reached a decent enough rank.

In addition to the players, your ultimate team also needs the right tactics. But don't go all Pep Guardiola and think too much about all possible scenarios. You can see what that leads to every year with Manchester City in the Champions League. Instead, just check out our article on the best formations, there's bound to be one that suits you – shameless self-promotion...? not at all.

Keep FIFA 22 Promos & Events in mind

You can reliably expect new events or promos every Friday at 7 pm UTC. FIFA players are so event-hungry that EA has to launch new Special Cards virtually every week. Promos often bring the same Special Cards two Fridays in a row, just with different players. There is also always a mini-release that usually goes live on Sunday evening.

Who is supposed to keep track of all this information? Since especially a lot of Special Cards only improve after some time has passed or are dependent on the players' performance in real life? Well, we'll keep you up to date. Not only do you find all the information about current events such as Winter Wildcards or FUT Versus here, but we also regularly update the dynamic cards. Here you can find our trackers:

You should also always keep an eye on the weekly TOTW. There are usually not many playable footballers in it and the Featured TOTW is also a flop, but, ya know, every chip gets a dip.

Otherwise, with these tips & tricks, you are well prepared for your Ultimate Team adventure. Now it's time to play, have fun and get better. And hey, if you don't trust our opinion, you can always get tips from the FIFA pros.
