Netflix's Ragnarök has been a very popular offering on the platform, with Season 3 breaking into the top 10 in multiple regions. But Season 3 is old news already, so what about Ragnarök Season 4? Is it even happening?
Ragnarök Season 3 is finally here! And so, quite naturally, fans have begun asking about Season 4. Here is everything we know about the future of Netflix's Ragnarök.
Ragnarök is a Norwegian TV show that tells the story of a group of teenagers who discover that they are reincarnations of ancient Norse gods and are destined to play a crucial role in the impending battle between the gods and giants, known as Ragnarök. The central character, Magne Seier, portrayed by David Stakston, is a quiet and unassuming teenager who gradually comes to realize his extraordinary powers as the embodiment of the thunder god, Thor.
Are We Getting A Ragnarök Season 4?
No, Netflix have officially confirmed that the show ended with Season 3. And once you've seen the finale of Season 3, that makes perfect sense. The show really couldn't continue, at least not with these characters.
However, we don't think this is necessarily the end of the road for the entire Ragnarök universe, even if the show is now over. We think a spin-off is actually quite likely in the case of this show. More on that below.
Ragnarök Possible Spin-Offs: Release Window
Ragnarök's mains story is definitely over, but the show was incredibly popular in certain regions and so we think a spin-off is possible. If they do work on a spinoff, however, then you'll need to wait until at least 2025.
For reference, they've taken between about a year and a half on average to produce each season:
- First announcement: November 2018
- Season 1: January 2020
- Season 2: May 2021
- Season 3: August 2023
And so we should really expect them to take even longer if they want to write and produce a spinoff series.
Sadly, that's all we can say about Ragnarök Season 4: It isn't happening. But as we outlined above, a spinoff to be released in 2025 or 2026 is the next best thing fans should now hope for.
