EarlyGame's Artist of the Day: The Planetoids

The Planetoids are a fantastic little Indie Disco and Pop band heralding from Hannover, Germany. They are also our Artist of the Day, so we asked them a few gaming-related questions...

Astronomists throughout the universe agree: The Planetoids are already leading the intergalactic charts on Mars, Venus and Jupiter. And that's not all - they are among the top ten on all other planets in our galaxy! Only one of them is, once again, not catching up with the trend: EARTH.

In 2014, The Planetoids were first spotted on this big, dirty blue planet. Whilst the foursome first crash landed their spaceship in Hannover, Germany (don’t drink and fly), they have been increasing their cosmic reach in 2019 by making people dance all the way between Great Britain, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and, naturally, Germany.

To simplify things in a way that humans can understand, they’ve been describing their music as Indie/Disco/Pop - but only because “Lots of Fun” doesn’t qualify as a musical genre. The result is a blast of energy that will make your hips shake and your heart jump a beat.

The Planetoids Make Some Wild-As Music!

Musically, the band offers a very high level of musicianship, and will take listeners on a journey somewhere between Phoenix, Vulfpeck and Erlend Oye, with inevitable excursions into the realms of Funk, 80s and the glitter of deep space. The Planetoids released their self-produced debut record in 2017, and are currently working on a piece of concept art consisting of four EPs, including a bunch of highly thought-through music videos.

They played more than 100 shows over the last three years, and between intimate club gigs and huge open air festivals, the band has proven that in a world of digital depression, there’s still a need for happy, groovy and organic and analog music. So, if you're in for some of that groove and funk, you should check out their music on Spotify and their wild-as-fork website!

We decided to ask them a few questions about music and video games. Here's what they said...
