Radar is the true highlight of Call of Duty: Vanguard's first season. Utterly beautiful, and a whole lot of fun. Let's take a look at this fantastic new map.
Radar is an unbelievably fun new Multiplayer Map that has come to Call of Duty: Vanguard in Season One, on December 8. It was originally designed for 6v6 matches in standard Multiplayer Modes, though it is also available at multiple combat pacing's, and is based on the classic Modern Warfare 3 map (explained below). Set during the day, Radar places you in an embattled Radio Station. It centres around a giant Radar Disc, with players fighting in the corridors and buildings surrounding and making up the facility. Check out the map's description:
A reimagined version of Dome, the classic Modern Warfare 3 map. This small radar station in the Pacific is built for fast-paced combat. Remember to not camp on the catwalks!

There's a lot to love about Radar, not in the least its absolutely gorgeous graphics. Featuring that impressive central Radar Disc, we battle against steep slopes that slide down cliffs towards the ocean of the Pacific Island on which this map is set. There are islands off in the distance (just like in Paradise), and the map is clearly meant to get us hyped up for the brand new Warzone Map that is launching with Season One. Here is our Radar Map Guide!
Radar: The Map
Radar is a medium-sized map, centred around a giant radar dish (hence the name). From the mini-map below, you can see that the dish itself is the main focus point of the map, and provides a great deal of verticality to the experience. This is due to the metallic platforms that surround the dish itself. From here you can fire down on the opponents below, but beware: it is flanked by multiple entrances. The central courtyard acts as a very tight and deadly spot, around which a lot of fighting will take place. If you are looking for good vistas, though, don't forget to stick to the outside of the map. Here, you can die and still get the most beautiful view in Vanguard. Yes, Eagle's Nest, Radar has you beat! What's not to love?
Radar Gameplay Overview & Tactics
Our recommendations for Radar really vary depending on both your personal style of play, the combat pacing you choose, and the mode you are playing. Ultimately, unlike boring-as maps like Das Haus and Decoy, Radar offers a whole lot of verticality, and thus it is important to bring a variety of weapons and equipment to the fight. There are a plethora of weapons, including two new guns in Season One, so this shouldn't be such a trouble.
Radar doesn't feature a huge amount of destructibility, but there are plenty of barrels to be aware of on this map, so be careful of that. Now, there really is a lot to love here, so listen closely: be careful of that upper section around the radar dish, because you are going to have a lot of trouble if you stay up there. It can be a great spot to jump off and keep moving, utilizing a brief bit of verticality. The problem is that there are multiple entrances, on most sides (except for the cliff, of course), so we can assure you that if you stay there, you will be flanked, and you will die.
Bring an Assault Rifle like the new Cooper Carbine to the fight, with some of those fantastic new incendiary grenades as well. For a secondary, we would recommend something with a bit more range. Perhaps the Kar98k, because you will be purely fighting infantry here. Make sure to have some Stuns, equip the perks that you like, and you should be sweet to go. This map is great for most game modes, but we especially like it for more objective-based modes.
All Hardpoint Rotations in Radar
In Radar, there are five different hardpoint locations, which rotate amongst themselves. You can see them in the above-listed map, providing a reasonable idea of each Hardpoint Location. The numbers correspond as follows:
- Barracks
- Locker Room
- Radar
- Headquarters
- Barracks
Hardpoint is a core Multiplayer Mode in Call of Duty: Vanguard that sees two different teams compete over certain bits of land on a map. It is similar to King of the Hill or Capture the Flag, but unlike the latter, you just simply need to stand at the Hardpoint Location for a certain amount of time to capture it. Hardpoints individually change positions, rotating every sixty seconds.
It's a pretty fantastic mode in Vanguard, though it isn't without its issues. In Radar, for example, some of the Hardpoint Locations are in quite open areas that really don't lend themselves to static positioning. If you are going to play this particular game mode, we certainly recommend making sure that you are playing with a team. Radar is no exception to this rule.
