Combat Pacing in Call of Duty: Vanguard aims to change the game for multiplayer versatility and matchmaking in this year's CoD. Let's take a look at how Combat Pacing works in Call of Duty: Vanguard, and what it seeks to change.
Vanguard's multiplayer reveal was a pretty major event, revealing a huge selection of new features, and answering a ton of our pressing questions. One thing that it certainly introduced was the new Combat Pacing system. Thus, we must ask the question: what is Combat Pacing in CoD Vanguard? Well, it's a little bit complicated, but that's why we're here, isn't it?
Before we dive into Combat Pacing in Call of Duty: Vanguard, here's everything that got shown in the multiplayer reveal...
What is Combat Pacing in Call of Duty: Vanguard?
Combat Pacing is a new feature in Vanguard that introduces a variety of matchmaking options, allowing you to customize the type of match you want to play. It provides you with a variety of options to determine the number of players you want to be playing against, and the intensity of the map you want to play. Keep in mind that Combat Pacing in Vanguard is not a new game mode, but instead a customization option in the game's new multiplayer mode. It sounds interesting, though, and we can't wait to check it out in the Beta!
How Combat Pacing Works in Call of Duty: Vanguard
There are three Combat Pacing categories to choose from, each with a different player count. The feature basically just adds the ability for us to be able to select the number of players we want to face off against. Of course, the more players, the higher the intensity of the match, and the quicker the TTK, hence the name "Combat Pacing". All Combat Pacing settings will apply to the same maps, so if you want to play Hotel Royal, you can play it in any of the three different modes. Check them out below...
What are the Vanguard Combat Pacing Categories?
- Tactical: Standard Call of Duty 6v6 lobby.
- Assault: Balanced combat, with "enough room to breath", and player counts between 20 and 28.
- Blitz: High action and high intensity lobbies with 28-48 players.
Combat Pacing in Call of Duty: Vanguard does not look like a game-changer, as was suggested in the multiplayer reveal. It does seem like a very sensible and player-friendly feature that will certainly change Call of Duty for the better, though. It will be a fantastic way to customize your experience, giving the player more agency in the way he/she/they want to enjoy Vanguard. Honestly, a great move from Sledgehammer, and a feature that we're very keen to check out in the Beta.
