CDL Major 2 | Schedule, Bracket, Results & Twitch Drops

The CDL's second big LAN event of the 2023 season is here: Major 2. Unlike Major 1, this isn't a pro-am, it's just a classic double elimination tournament between the pro teams. You can find all the information you need to know about Major 2 below.

The 2023 season of the Call of Duty League has launched with great success. After a wild rostermania, the League decided to start the season early in December (normally we have to wait until February for matches to begin), and this change, in addition to the move to Twitch, has seen record-breaking viewership. Plus, the matches themselves have been great, with tons of nail-biter maps and the most enjoyable Control we've seen since BO4 (obviously we're talking about Hotel and not Fortress).

Let's hope we see viewership continue to grow as we head into Major 2 this weekend. New York won the last major, but most fans are probably favoring Toronto or Atlanta. You can find all the info you need to enjoy the event below.

CDL Major 2: Overview

If you've been watching comp-cod for the last few years, skip on down to the schedule and results. But if you're new to comp-cod, here's a basic overview of how Major 2 will work.

Whereas Major 1 saw amateur teams battle it out against the pros over multiple stages, Major 2 is just a "standard" CDL LAN event. There aren't multiple stages, it's just a classic double elimination knockout tournament between the pro teams.

Teams have been competing against each other online for seeding over the past month. The top eight teams will go into the winner's bracket, and the bottom four teams will go into the loser's bracket. If you're in the winner's bracket, and you lose a series then you go down to the loser's bracket. But if you lose in the losers bracket then you're knocked out completely. You can think of it this way, the top eight teams will go into the weekend with one "life" to spare, but the bottom four teams cannot afford to lose a series.

The winner of the loser's bracket will eventually play the winner of the winner's bracket in the Grand Finals, but the team coming from the winner's bracket will have veto advantage. And if this all still makes no sense to you then scroll down to the current bracket, and it will probably help you to understand.

As a London fan I'll be the first to admit: it's f*cking chalked.

CDL Major 2: Points & Prize Pool

CDL Points

First and foremost for CDL teams, winning the Major (or at least placing well) will give teams a lot of points in the overall standings:

  • 1st - 65 CDL Points
  • 2nd - 50 CDL Points
  • 3rd - 40 CDL Points
  • 4th - 30 CDL Points
  • 5th Place Tie - 20 CDL Points
  • 7th Place Tie - 10 CDL Points

Remember, only the top eight teams will qualify for Champs at the end of the year, and that's really the only tournament that matters. Rings mean a hell of a lot more than chips after all, hence, Crimsix is the GOAT.

CDL Prize Pool

Teams do also win prize money for how well they do at Major 2, and per current league rules, at least 50% of that money will go directly to the players. Here's how much is up for grabs:

  • 1st - 65 CDL Points
  • 2nd - 50 CDL Points
  • 3rd - 40 CDL Points
  • 4th - 30 CDL Points
  • 5th Place Tie - 20 CDL Points
  • 7th Place Tie - 10 CDL Points

$200,000 is a nice chunk of change. Vegas could afford to rent a facility!

CDL Major 2: Twitch Viewership Rewards

And you the viewer can also "win" at Major 2. By linking your Activision and Twitch accounts, and signing in when you watch, you will be able to unlock Double Weapon XP tokens (30 mins for every 2 hours you watch) and the following cosmetic:

And that, ladies and gentlemen, was your complete overview of Major 2 in the 2023 season of the CDL. We hope you enjoy the matches, and we wish your team every success.
