Looking for 250 rounds of pure carnage? May we introduce the MG42, which is already feeling like it has the staying power of the Ol' RPD. Here's the current meta attachment setup for the MG42, as well as the best loadout to use it with.
The MG42 was everyone's favorite LMG when Vanguard first launched. In multiplayer, it was just so damn good; huge mags, a wonderful rate of fire, and great mobility for an LMG. But when the new Warzone Pacific map launched, most players were trying Vanguard weapons for the first time. And the first MG42 most of them would have tried, was a bizarre ground loot build.
This thing had everything wrong with it, it was a masterclass in how not to build a weapon. Consequently, the thing was uncontrollable trash. But built the right way, the MG42 can be an absolute demon. Here's the current meta attachment setup for the MG42, and a loadout to use it with.
Note: This attachment setup and loadout are meant exclusively for use in Warzone, for a multiplayer loadout you're looking for this guide.
The Best MG42 Setup
Component | Attachment |
Muzzle | Mercury Silencer |
Barrel | Krausnick 450mm B42MG |
Optic | G16 2.5x |
Stock | Krausnick S91 Padded |
Underbarrel | M1941 Hand Stop |
Magazine | 8mm Klauser 250 Round Box |
Ammo Type | Lengthened |
Rear Grip | Leather Grip |
Proficiency | Tight Grip |
Kit | Fully Loaded |
In a lot of cases, the right attachment with the MG42 is the one that allows you to control the recoil and accuracy over range. And while this often comes at the cost of mobility, that's a trade worth making, because we'll be taking Amped and a PPSh on backup. So if we are forced into CQC, we won't be using the MG42 anyway. No, we'll be using the MG42 to lay down as many of those 250 rounds as we need to keep our squad covered.
The Best Secondary, Grenades & Perks for an MG42 Loadout
The Best Secondary Weapon for the MG42
As you can tell from the lack of stock and perk choices - this is a PPSh built for extreme mobility. When we take the PPSh out, we should be able to make incredibly fast pushes and rotations, and that's just what we're looking for in emergencies when we can't use the MG42 above. Also, with this PPSh, don't forget that you can rely on your hip fire when you need to.
The Best Equipment For The MG42
Lethal | Thermite |
Tactical | Smoke |
This build is all about support and area control, granted to us by the 250 round box mags. So Smokes and Thermite are an obvious choice, and should prevent easy flanks, and further allow us to cover the squad when they're pushing on supply drops.
The Best Perks for the MG42
Perk 1 | Double TIme |
Perk 2 | Overkill |
Perk 3 | Amped |
As we mentioned previously, we'll be taking Amped and Double Time to make sure that we can always switch out to the PPSh quickly, and stay on the move when we need to. And Overkill is necessary for us to take two primary weapons - which we absolutely do need in a loadout like this.
That was the current MG42 meta guide. Hopefully, it's made you reconsider this puppy. If you're looking for a simple jack-of-all trades weapon, then perhaps it's the STG you're after?
