The HCR-56 is the LMG variant of the AUG, and it's pretty strong in Warzone. In-game, it feels like the closest thing we have to an AR/LMG hybrid, with a good overall balance of stats for mid-range engagements. Here's the best loadout for the HCR.
The LMGs have been given a new lease of life in Warzone 2, and are far more viable than they ever were in Warzone 1. This is due to a combination of the naturally slower pace of the game, and the lack of good long-range alternatives. Amongst the best LMGs, the HCR ranks fairly highly as it's one of the snappier, lighter guns, but it can still be used effectively in mid-range.
So if you want to get on the LMG hype-train, but you don't want to be lugging around one of the heavier, more traditional LMGs, we advise the HCR. You can find the best loadout for the HCR-56 in Warzone 2 below.
- The HCR isn't quite "meta", but if that's all you're interested in then check out the best weapons in Warzone 2.
The Best Attachment Setup For The HCR-56 In Warzone 2
Slot | Attachment | Unlock Requirements | Attachment Tuning |
Muzzle | XTEN Ported 290 | STB 556 to Level 20 → HCR 56 to Level 16 | Recoil Stabilization (+0.60 oz) / Gun Kick Control (+0.25 in) |
Laser | EXF Solarflare | VEL 46 to Level 2 | Default |
Optic | Slimline Pro | Lachmann-762 to Level 13 → Lachmann-556 to Level 12 → Lachmann Sub to Level 11 | Default |
Comb | FTAC C11 Riser | STB 556 to Level 13 → MX9 to Level 5 | Recoil Stabilization (+0.25 oz) / Aim Down Sight Speed (-0.15 in) |
Rear Grip | Bruen Q900 Grip | STB 556 to Level 13 → MX9 to Level 13 | Recoil Steadiness (+0.70 oz) / Aiming Idle Stability (+0.30 in) |
We aren't going to try and extend this gun's range to make it a long-range build, instead we're focused on getting increased handling speeds and mobility. In this way we get the weapon to act as a do-it-all primary, rather than pushing it into a role it isn't optimized for. However, as you can see with our tuning, we didn't want these handling-focused attachments to reduce our recoil control too drastically, so we've "toned them down" so to speak.
The only attachment that might surprise you is the EXF Solarflare, but for mid-range weapons we don't like running lasers because you bait yourself to opponents very easily. Instead, we've gone for this flashlight, which is almost completely unnoticeable in Al Mazrah and still gives us improved sprint-out times and aiming stability.

The Best Loadout For The HCR-56: Secondary, Perks & Equipment
Secondary: X12
We're going to be a little risky here and suggest you can use the HCR as a primary, because as we said earlier, this weapon can absolutely dominate the mid-range. For a secondary we can therefore pick up a sidearm for emergencies. We think the X12 is probably the best pistol for panicked, close-range situations. If you don't trust your trigger-finger go with the X13 and a 50-round mag.

Perks (Base, Bonus & Ultimate)
If you're going to risk going for one of the loadout drops, you can't go wrong with the Specter Package:
Perk Package | Specter Package |
Base Perk | Double Time / Tracker |
Bonus Perk | Spotter |
Ultimate Perk | Ghost |
The Specter Package is one of only two Perk Packages that gives us Ghost, and we think this is the best Ultimate perk for Warzone because intel and positioning are so important. Specter is probably the better of the two Perk Packages with Ghost because it has Double Time and Tracker. Obviously, Spotter isn't that great.
Equipment (Lethal & Tactical)
For equipment, and for an LMG loadout, we advise less aggressive options:
Lethal | Semtex |
Tactical | Snapshot Grenades |
Semtex is easy to use, and it's good against both vehicles and infantry alike, so it's never a bad choice. And alongside Semtex we like Snapshots as a good way to check whole buildings for your squad (but these have been nerfed hard since Warzone 1).
If the HCR just isn't for you, then you'll find good alternatives in our complete tier list of every weapon in Warzone 2.
