Battlefield 2042 is enjoying a free weekend! We've seen these before, and it works much the same in Battlefield 2042 as it has previously in the franchise. But if you are new to Battlefield, you'll find the key details beneath to bring you up to speed. Enjoy!

When is the Free Weekend starting in Battlefield 2042?

The Battlefield 2042 Free Weekend began on Friday, January 7, at 03:00 ET (08:00 GMT, 09:00 CET). Just in time to get your work done for the week and break out the controller for a shooter-heavy weekend. If you're coming in fresh, you might appreciate some tips:

When is the Free Weekend ending in Battlefield 2042?

The Battlefield 2042 Free Weekend ends on Monday, January 10, at 03:00 ET (08:00 GMT, 09:00 CET). So you've got exactly 72 hours to enjoy the fun. You better get that download on!

What Platforms get the Free Weekend?

Unfortunately, the Free Weekend is only available for Xbox users, and specifically for the Xbox Pass Ultimate subscribers. The weekend trial is being offered as part of Xbox's Free Play Days scheme. It's quite a new game to already be on the Free Play Days scheme, but then BF2042 hasn't been doing great as we all know, so the more users the better right now.

But don't listen to everything you've heard. There's a ton to enjoy, including destruction...

How do you access Battlefield 2042 during the Free Weekend?

Provided you're subscribed to Xbox Pass Ultimate, navigate to the subscriptions tab in the Xbox Store and go into the Gold members area, from there locate the Free Play Days collection, and you should see Battlefield 2042 available to download. It's that simple, but get the download on as soon as you can; it's not a huge game, but it's still a decent 27 GB.

How much of Battlefield 2042 do you get to play?

You get to enjoy the complete Battlefield 2042 experience, including Hazard Zone, All-Out-Warfare, and Portal. If you're jumping on, and you don't have the time to level weapons, we advise going with Portal. Hazard Zone simply isn't balanced in favor of new players, and All-Out-Warfare requires you to unlock a few key weapons before you can really let loose.

If you enjoy Battlefield on the free weekend, but you're not sure if it's worth buying, here's the first seasonal content coming in 2022. That way, you know what else you'll be getting with the game a few months down the line.
