The long-awaited Modern Warfare 2 is now within sight. It's no longer a distant dream, we can see light at the end of the tunnel. And that of course means that we're also getting closer to the MWII beta testing stage.

Modern Warfare 2 Beta Starting Times
The beta dates have been confirmed for September, and it will be split into two weekends – one for PS only and one open beta. As usual, PlayStation users will get access to the beta a whole week earlier and gamers that pre-ordered can start two days earlier. The specific time that the servers open is 10:00 PT (13:00 ET / 18:00 CEST / 19:00 BST).

Although we're all excited about a beta, of course, there's still some skepticism among gamers. MWII will officially be released on October 28, which means that the beta will take place just one month before release. Of course, this raises the question if the developers even have enough time to implement user feedback. Let's just hope that the beta is polished already...
How Do You Register For The Modern Warfare II Beta?
There will be an open beta that you don't need to register for, you will simply have to download the beta client when it is available on your platform. However, you can join the beta a few days before everyone else if you pre-order the game or get a beta code.
How To Get A Free Beta Code
If you don't want to pre-order the game to gain access to the beta, you can just try and land yourself a beta code. The CDL already dropped 50,000 beta codes during the CDL champs on the 4th of August and official CoD accounts and influencers are giving away beta codes on social media every day.
Just check your Twitter or Instagram feed and participate in giveaways. Generally, the official CoD Twitter account will give some beta codes away. If not them, then it will most likely be any other content creator for Call of Duty, so the chances of getting a code aren't that low.
What Will You Get To Play During The MWII Playtests?
The Modern Warfare 2 beta will feature "a robust multiplayer experience going beyond the Core 6v6 experience with a variety of meticulously designed maps of various sizes, and an equally impressive set of Modes, Progression experiences, and other aspects". More details about the beta will be announced during the upcoming Call of Duty: Next eventon Thursday, September 15, one day before the start of the beta.
Most probably we will be able to play some 6v6 maps and maybe gunfight like in Modern Warfare 2019. We don't expect any fancy new modes during the beta but standard Domination, SnD or Kill Confirmed.
