How To Play Slowbro in Pokémon Unite
Slowbro Guide: Basics
As expected, Slowbro is a defensive Pokémon that "goes about life at its own pace". With him, you will mostly focus on defending, rather than dealing an enormous amount of damage.
- Offense: 1.5/5
- Endurance 4/5
- Mobility 1.5/5
- Scoring 1.5/5
- Support 4/5
Slowbro Guide: Evolution
Slowbro will start as Slowpoke and evolve to Slowbro at Level 4.
Slowbro Guide: Unique Abilities
- Oblivious – All HP loss is gradual. Slowbro will "forget" to take some of that damage when hitting opponents with its moves. This also weakens the opponent's special defense.
- Basic Attack – Becomes a boosted attack with every third attack. When this boosed attack hits, it deals damage to nearby opposing Pokémon and decreases their movement speed for a short time.
Slowbro Guide: Moves
Level 1
- Water Gun | 5s cooldown – Slowbro shoots water and both damages and slows opponents. Longer use does more damage.
- Slack Off | 11s cooldown – Recovers HP while using. Moving or taking damage reduces this effect.
How to build: You will most likely not go head on and fight opposing Pokémon straight away, meaning you won't need Slack Off, but rather Water Gun first, so that you can defeat wild Pokémon.
Level 4
- Scald | 5s cooldown – Deals damage to Pokémon and burns them, causing them to move slower and take damage over time.
- Surf | 9s cooldown – Summon 3 waves of water that damages, displaces, and slows opponents in its path.
How to build: His name is literally Slowbro. You'll need some sort of engage tool for Slowbro, otherwise he'll always hang in the back. For that reason: pick Surf.
Level 6
- Amnesia | 7s cooldown – Nullifies some pending damage. Then become immune to crowd control effects and increase defense. Empowers your next Scald or Surf.
- Telekinesis | 11s cooldown – Levitates an opponent. On second activation: Pulls the opponent toward you.
How to build: As Telekinesis needs good teamwork, and we're unsure if you're playing with strangers or people you know, go for Amnesia instead. It's the safer and – to be fair – more powerful pick.
Level 9 – Slowbro Unite Move
- Slowbeam – Suppresses and opponent with a steely state, causing damage over time. Slowbro becomes unstoppable and gains a shield for the duration.
Another reason you don't want to build Telekinesis on Level 6, is because Slowbeam acts like Telekinesis, just is way more powerful. Don't waste your Amnesia at Level 6.
Slowbro Guide: Item Build
- Held Items | Go with Rocky Helmet, Shell Bell and Leftovers.
- Battle Item | Eject Button.
Shell Bell increases your healing abilities, and Leftovers give you back some HP over time. Rocky Helmet will deal damage to opposing Pokémon over time.
Eject Button is the usual choice to escape sticky situations... use it to escape.
Slowbro Guide: Game Strategy
As we said before, Slowbro is not the best Pokémon to engage. If you want to help out your team: use Surf to join the party and then Amnesia straight after. This way, you will be able to deal damage and the rest of your team can finish off opposing Pokémon.
