Will Battlefield 2042 Have Class Restricted Weapons?

Do we all get snipers? | © EA

Battlefield 2042 is a shooter - weapons are one of the most important things in the game. So how do they interact with class? Are weapons class restricted, as they've been in previous Battlefield games, or not? We've got all the answers right here.

We seem to be getting more great news about Battlefield 2042 day by day and a lot of folks will surely already have put their pre-orders in. But there are a few new features that clearly show Battlefield beginning to take inspiration from Call of Duty. Now, however good these features might be we expect anything that's touched CoD to be unpopular among a die-hard Battlefield audience. The TTK is sure to be controversial for the same reason (I personally predict it will be too low for most Battlefield fans). But another problematic feature, and perhaps a more pressing one, will be the handling of weapons and class. Note: Tune in on July 22 for the EA Play Live event, where we expect to hear a lot more about Battlefield 2042.

Will The Weapons In Battlefield 2042 Be Class Restricted?

No, they won't be - any class will be able to build loadouts with any weapon, and you'll be able to use any weapon you pick up as ground loot. This is...well it'll be divisive. It's a step closer to CoD, so that won't play well in certain circles, but at the same time, a lot of people will enjoy the freedom of choice. My own fear is that it will lead the game along a meta-chasing path, but we'll see.

Like keeping up to speed with all things Battlefield? So do we; here are a few of the stories in case you missed anything:

What Weapons Are We Getting In Battlefield 2042?

We're in for the full modern shooter roster of ARs, SMGs, LMGs, snipers, and shotguns. There's far too much to be able to list everything here, but we do have an article that we've been updating with every weapon in Battlefield 2042 seen so far, just follow this link.

Also, you've probably already heard about this, but in case you hadn't (and because it gets me so excited) let me tell you about the new attachment feature. You can now swap attachments out mid-game, so if you need to go silent, you can throw that suppressor on in cover. Inspired stuff, but we've yet to hear exactly how it works. Naturally, we'll keep you updated when we do.
